From the President...

Well, it’s that time of the year again when the weather starts to cool down and it’s time to start preparing

for the winter months.

We have had our first meeting with the Task Force on towing last month and will be having our second

meeting shortly. There are a large amount of people on this Task Force and they all would like to see some form of licensing required by the State. Most of the police departments would like a simple license so that each individual County or municipality can regulate, as they feel necessary. Wayne Sullivan, Sullivan’s Garage, your meal’s on us! Those jurisdictions that have nothing on the books will have to at least follow the State requirements.

The Task Force is looking at our industry in four ways: Trespass Towing, Police Towing and Commercial

Towing and Repossession. In all of these categories they are worried about protecting the consumer. The

insurance companies are pushing for these regulations because they would like to set the pricing across the State, which would be devastating to our industry. They are not the only ones who would like to see this happen.

I would like to see more towers come to these meetings, as they are open to anyone who would like to

show up. They do allow people in attendance to speak to the Task Force so please contact Betty and plan on attending at least one of these meetings. These meetings will have a direct impact on your business and your livelihood. Please feel free to contact Betty or me with any and all questions and or concerns as we enter this crucial time. I hope to see you all at the December 3 meeting at Snyders and I will meet you at the door.

                                                                                                                     ~ Fred
